Our Story

After teaching at another local studio for 3.5 years, I got the news that they were unable to reopen after COVID-19 closures. During those 3.5 years I formed great relationships with the dancers I taught and their families. When we heard the news of the studio closing, we were all in a position to find a new dance home. I didn’t know where we would end up, but I knew I couldn’t split these dancers up. So I decided to open a studio where we could all continue dancing together. 

Over 4 years ago I opened Energize. It was May of 2020, I had just graduated from college with a bachelor of arts degree in Psychology and Applied Mathematics and it was the peak of COVID-19 restrictions. And as you may know, it was a spur of the moment decision to open a dance studio. I had no idea what I was getting myself into with business ownership, but that didn’t matter, because my vision was vivid and my love of dance was strong.

Since May of 2020, I started teaching dance classes on Zoom while looking for a physical space for our studio. Starting with 10 kids on Zoom, I found a location and opened the doors to Energize in September of 2020. Slowly we gained a few new students and I was so excited. 

The most exciting moment was our first recital. It wasn’t perfect and there were definitely a few hiccups, but we live and we learn. That was the moment I knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I devoted the entire next year to learning how to run and grow my business. I read countless books, attended many webinars and joined the Dance Studio Owners Association Inner Circle where I now get to learn from hundreds of other successful studio owners each day.

What started as an idea in my living room in 2020, now impacts the lives of over 100 kids in Sarasota!

In August of 2022, at the beginning of Season 3, I recommitted myself to build a bigger vision for Energize. I feel like our work in our industry is just getting started and there an abundance of opportunities for us to impact a greater number of kids in the area! Now, we are excited to have expanded into our new 2600sf facility with 2 dance studio rooms, a dancer lounge, comfortable lobby space, and dance wear boutique!

What started out with 10 kids on Zoom, is now a full dance studio running classes 6 days a week with over 100 kids coming into our studio each week! Our faculty has grown from just myself to a team of 5 amazing individuals who are authentically passionate about what they do and love teaching your children each and every week.

We are on a mission to positive environment where all students feel safe to learn, grow, and excel through dance. Our goal is not only to train incredible dancers, but to build incredible human beings through dance. We aim to provide high quality dance classes all while keeping dance FUN!

That’s why the theme for both myself and my staff for Season 5 is: Momentum. I am committed to continuing to grow and build Energize to be the best that it can be. My staff is devoted to learning and growing in their teaching and providing you and your children an excellent experience each an every time you walk into the studio.  

As a company, we are incredibly excited for what this season will bring. Now when I look at our plan for Energize, I see it truly coming to life.
